Thune City is a pleasant enough place, if you can ignore the oppressive heat in the day, the canals filled with stinging insects, and the crisscrossing lines of crime families that stalked the streets and made off-world smuggling as difficult as when they had Imperials breathing down their necks.
Still, their shipment had been made, they'd been paid in full, and Chopper was running maintenance that was going to take the night. The sun had nearly set, which meant that the heat was leveling off, that shadows were cutting across the yellow stone towers and domes of the city, and lights were starting to appear in windows.
Not to mention the bartender in this place could mix a Corellian Twister, so overall, Kanan isn't feeling much to complain about.

"Since you paid for this one."
It was a very generous offer that Kanan silently made by just showing up at this cantina.

See, he's still not complaining!

She's just saying, Kanan.

Beat. "As long as we get paid."
But they did get paid, so it's fine.
no subject
She smirks a little.
"When we get paid."
no subject
Definitely better to do the math early in the drinking.

"You know I'm not telling you right now. It'll ruin the celebratory mood."
no subject
It sounds about right. But he raises his glass to hers.
"To having enough for one night off?"
no subject
"Half a night, if we're lucky. We left Chop all by himself, remember?"
no subject
Kanan knows what her answer will be by the time he's barely started taking a sip of his drink, and quickly puts it down to add, "Besides the Zenos trying to steal the ship again."
no subject
Kanan cannot say she didn't warn him!
She closes her eyes, makes a stifled sound of frustration, and takes a drink.
"And that better be the last Zenos mention of the night."
Damn organized crime and their ability to recognize a quality ship.
no subject
"Chop is usually more entertaining after I've been drinking."
Though the complete opposite becomes true by the next morning.
no subject
You are so doomed, Kanan.
no subject
"Half a night it is, captain."
no subject
He just looks so sad.

Can Hera last that long? He has doubts about whether Hera can last that long.
no subject
"Well, maybe you could take the whole evening, and Chop will spot me after half."
She can admit she's a workaholic, okay?
no subject
That Chopper would probably be useful if he ever got a in a bar fight again probably still doesn't make it a good idea.
no subject
Hera's innocence should probably be more convincing.
Nah.
no subject
Kanan takes another sip of his drink.
"I think I can see how Chopper turned out how he did."
no subject
Hera is glad to be appreciated.
She also appreciates this drink, which has now been emptied. (Because she drank it.)
"Speaking of seeing -- I think we're about up for the next round. Or at least I am."
no subject
"Work, work, work..."
no subject
Hera doesn't snicker.
Much.
